Frequently Asked Questions
Clear answers about student visas, moving to Spain, and how Interlink works.
About Interlink
What is Interlink?
Interlink helps international students and newcomers navigate the move to Spain — with guidance, practical checklists, and access to trusted partners when needed. Our focus is clarity, speed, and fewer mistakes.
Are you a law firm or licensed immigration lawyers?
We are not a law firm. For cases that require legal representation (for example, certain visa types or complex situations), we can connect you with licensed immigration lawyers who handle the legal work directly.
Do I need to hire you, or can I do it myself?
You can absolutely do it yourself — our guides cover a lot. People usually hire us to save time, reduce stress, and avoid common mistakes, especially with documents and timing.
Spain Student Visa
What do you help with for the student visa?
We can help you understand the requirements, plan the process, review your documents, and reduce avoidable mistakes. The final decision always depends on the consulate/authorities.
How long does the student visa process take?
It depends on your country and consulate workload. As a general guideline, it can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. We recommend starting 3–4 months before your intended course start date whenever possible.
How much money do I need to show for a student visa?
Requirements depend on the consulate and your course duration. Usually you must show proof of funds for living expenses, plus paid tuition (or proof you can pay it). We can help you estimate the amount for your case and avoid common bank-statement mistakes.
Can I work with a student visa in Spain?
In many cases, student residence can allow part-time work under specific conditions, but outcomes vary by program and situation. We explain your realistic options during a call and point you to the correct steps after arrival.
What documents are typically needed for a student visa?
Typically: school acceptance, proof of funds, health insurance, criminal record certificate (often apostilled), medical certificate, passport, application forms, and photos. Exact requirements can differ by consulate, so we always check against your specific consulate list.
What happens if my application is refused?
Refusals can happen for many reasons (documents, timing, consulate interpretation, personal circumstances). If you want to reapply or appeal, we can advise on next steps and, when appropriate, connect you with legal partners. Service payments are for time and work delivered; for details please see our terms.
Housing & Relocation
Do you help with housing in Barcelona?
We can connect you with trusted housing partners in Barcelona. Housing services are provided by third parties, and pricing varies. We do not guarantee availability or outcomes — Barcelona's rental market can be competitive.
What is a NIE / TIE and do I need one?
NIE is your foreigner identification number. TIE is the physical residence card. If you're staying longer than 6 months, you typically apply for your TIE after arriving in Spain. We can guide you through the steps.
Other Visa Types
Do you help with Digital Nomad or Non-Lucrative visas?
Yes — we can provide initial guidance and connect you with licensed immigration lawyers who specialize in these visa types. These cases are typically handled through legal partners. Pricing depends on your specific situation.
